Αντίθετα, δήλωσε ευθέως ότι η CIA ήταν πίσω από την «κρατική τρομοκρατία» κατά των αγωγών Nord Stream και ότι προσωπικά ο Τζο Μπάιντεν διέταξε την επίθεση!
Η προσέγγιση των ΗΠΑ ότι «αυτός ο Ουκρανός το έκανε με ένα ναυλωμένο ιστιοπλοϊκό γιοτ» είναι ανοησία σύμφωνα με τον Πούτιν.
Να σημειωθεί ότι αρχικά οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες προσπαθούσαν να ρίξουν την ευθύνη για την έκρηξη στη Ρωσία, ενώ έπειτα έγιναν εκτενή αφιερώματα σε δυτικά ΜΜΕ που τεκμηριώνουν ότι τους αγωγούς τους ανατίναξε η Ουκρανία.
Ο τελευταίος αυτός ισχυρισμός είχε εξοργίσει τους Γερμανούς, καθώς ακόμα και το Σπίγκελ σε δημοσίευμα του ισχυρίστηκε πως εάν όντως την ανατίναξη την είχαν οργανώσει οι Ουκρανοί, τότε το ΝΑΤΟ θα έπρεπε να στραφεί κατά της Ουκρανίας. Όπως ορίζει το άρθρο 5 της συμμαχίας.
